Biography

It is now over 20 years ago that Baden Powell de Aquino died in Rio de Janeiro on September 26th, 2000. In a fifty-year spanning career, he had a major impact on Brazilian music and was a key figure in the Bossa Nova movement. His technique combined classical guitar techniques with jazz harmonies.
In his lifetime, he recorded 60 albums and composed over 100 songs incorporating various styles such as Samba, Bossa Nova, Jazz and Baroque elements into his music.
In April 2000 he played his last concert that was recorded, which is now part of the MPS catalogue together with six other timeless albums including Tristeza on Guitar and Images on Guitar.
